I am a lifelong resident of our beautiful area, having spent all my 57 years here. I cherish the peace and tranquility that our towns of Plattekill (Hamlet, Modena), Gardiner, New Paltz, Wallkill, and others offer. However, this serenity is threatened by a proposed construction project - an Amazon-sized warehouse right on the border of Gardiner located in the hamlet of Modena town of Plattekill.Make no mistake, 18-wheelers rumbling through our communities at all hours seven days a week will have a profound effect on our way of life. The noise from these trucks will disrupt our peaceful existence and pose safety risks to families like mine. Traffic congestion will become commonplace as these large vehicles traverse our small town roads day and night.Moreover, the glow from this massive structure will obscure our view of the night sky. Our ability to gaze at stars - a simple pleasure we've enjoyed for generations - will be lost under its bright lights.This isn't just about preserving what we have; it's about protecting what makes us who we are.
